 BAHASA INGGRIS UJIAN SELEKSI MASUK STAN

Pada awalnya, soal bahasa Inggris dalam ujian seleksi masuk STAN terdiri dari beberapa bagian, yaitu Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary dan Structure dan usage. Namun saat ini, soal bahasa Inggris dalam USM STAN telah ditambah dengan soal mengenai idiom dan error recognition

       Bagian selanjutnya dari modul ini berisi tentang dasar teori yang memudahkan siswa menjawab soal-soal bahasa Inggris dalam USM STAN dilengkapi dengan soal latihan dari soal-soal bahasa Inggris USM STAN tahun-tahun sebelumnya.

I.     TENSES

       Tense (waktu) merupakan elemen yang sangat penting dalam bahasa Inggris. Bentuk kata kerja dalam kalimat bahasa Inggris dipengaruhi oleh tense (waktu).

       Ada 16 tense dalam bahasa Inggris, namun dalam bab ini, kita membahas tense berdasarkan keterangan waktu yang terdapat dalam kalimat.

Contoh:

§ I had been doing my homework for an hour when he came.

§ She has known him since two years ago.

§ They have watched the movie for half an hour when he knocks at the door.

·    all+time+Present Perfect Continuous

Contoh:

§ All these weeks, we have been trying to solve the problem.

§ She has been practising the song all these months.

 

·    Since+Subject+     verb       + Present Perfect/Present Perfect Continuous       was/were

 

Contoh:

§ I have known him since he was a little boy.

§ Since he knew I lied to him, he has never called me.

§ She hasn’t worked there since they fired her.

 

·    When+S.Past+S.Past (jika when+S.Past adalah kejadian ke 1). ·    When+S.Past+Past Continuous (jika keduanya terjadi pada saat yang bersamaan).

 

Contoh:

§ She was watering the flowers when her boyfriend arrived.

§ When she felt thirsty, she drank some water.

Contoh:

§ I will have finished my study by the end of this year.

§ She will have been cooking for an hour by the time you come.

§ We will have been in Jakarta by next Sunday.

Contoh:

§ After she had known what really happened she became angry.

·    now right now at this time        + Pre. Continuous Tense at this moment at this present

Contoh:

§ I am making a cake at this moment.

§ Mother is preparing lunch now.

§ They are watching a football game at this time.
